Bellie report – @ Langley Thunder – June 27th, 2012
Though the Bellies only allowed the Langley Thunder to get five shots off in the first period of Wednesday night’s game, the fact that four of them crossed the goal line was a sign of things to come. After sixty minutes of struggle, the Bellies fell to the Thunder, dropping the second game in the season series by a score of 10-5.
After the first twenty minutes, the Bellies went to the dressing room scoreless and down by four goals.
It wasn’t until the 5:52 mark in the second period that Bellies fans saw their first goal, one from Ian Hawksbee. A second New Westminster goal by Alex Gajic came before the second intermission, but the four goal deficit remained.
Scoring in the final period went in favour of the Thunder despite goals from Jordan McBride, Nenad Gajic and Martin Cummings.
Tyler Richards made 22 saves on 31 shots while the Bellies took 36 shots on Thunder goaltender Steve Fryer.
Martin Cummings was the Bellies high scorer with one goal and two assists. Ian Hawksbee had a goal and assist of his own.
The Bellies now take a break until their next home game on July 5th vs. the Maple Ridge Burrards.
