| 5 Minutes in the Box: Jordan Hall |
| Lacrosse may keep Jordan Hall close to home during the summer, but during the winter, the sport takes this Surrey native all the way to the Big Apple. As the New York Titans first pick, Hall went #1 in the 2007 NLL draft. In his rookie season, he was third on the team in scoring and in 2009 he ended up second, helping to earn his team their first ever Eastern Division title. He has had a similar impact on the New Westminster Senior Salmonbellies. After playing only eight games in 2008, he ended the season with 26 points. “Jordan Hall is an elite athlete who continues to grow into a team leader,” says Bob Salt, head coach of the team for all three seasons he has been playing in the WLA. “He really doesn’t get enough credit for his commitment to defense and transition.” Because a lot of players fly in to play, he says he misses the opportunity that he has in New West, to meet up with a teammate for a workout or a beer during the week, but Hall really seems to fit in with the fast pace of life in New York City. From his apartment in Gramercy, he described what he likes about living there. “On a sunny day, I like going to Central Park’s Sheep Meadow and throwing a football around. We like to bring a stereo and Frisbee and people watch. New York City is great for people watching. People seem to range from extremely weird to extremely good looking and the polar opposites could be holding hands on a walk. That makes sitting in the park a lot more interesting. On rainy days, I like to go to a museum, concert or local watering hole.” Hall says that playing in the NLL has given him a great opportunity to play with some of the best players in the world. He loves the fact that any team can win on any given night because the talent pool is just so high, but there is something missing. The wooden floor. “Even playing in Madison Square Garden,” he said, “is a close second to Queens Park Arena.” Jordan Hall’s blog can be found on the Madison Square Gardens website. |
