| Bellies Squander Chance to Gain Ground |
| by Kyle Richardson On what can be described as a Bizzaro night of lacrosse in the WLA the defending champions New Westminster Salmonbellies squandered a chance to move up on league leaders Victoria, salvaging an 11- 11 tie with the hapless Nanaimo Timbermen in Nanaimo Saturday Night. On the same night that League leading Victoria dropped a game on the road to the Langley Thunder 12-10 and the Coquitlam Adanacs lost to the Lowly Burnaby Lakers 12-7 at home . The Bellies roared out to a 5-0 lead after 1 period and then played arguably their worst period of lacrosse this season being outscored 8-3 to end the second stanza locked at 8-8. The Bellies took what looked like an insurmountable lead at 10-8 only to let that slip away late in the 3rd to force overtime. The Bellies jumped on an early lead in the 10 minute overtime only to allow the Timbermen to slip one by goalie Ty Richards with 14 seconds left on the clock to tie the game for good. Bellies were lead by two Rookies 3 goals by Sean Robinson and a goal and 3 assist by Marty Cummings. Goaltender Ty Richards stopped 36 shots of 47 thrown his way, Bellies powerplay was an anemic 2 for 9 while Nanaimo scored on 5 of 8 PP Chances.
