 Bellies Up 1-0 In WLA Final    

New Westminster drew 1st Blood with a dominating 10-1 win in the 1st game of the best of seven final over arch rival Coquitlam Adanacs, in front of 1500 boisterous Bellies supporters at Historic Queens Park Arena . Chris Gill scored 52 seconds into the game and the Bellies rolled from there scoring 6 other goals in the first stanza  to hold a 7-0 lead after one. Coquitlam tallied the only second period marker as the Bellies held a 7-1 lead going into the final frame. Bellies rattled off 3 straight goals in the 3rd period to win game 1  10 to 1.

Leading the way was WLA Rookie of the Year Tyler Richards who stopped 41 of 42 shots thrown his way, Cliff “Whalley World” Smith collected 4 goals some of the spectacular fashion , while Jamie Floris Pitched in with 5 points on (1g,4a) and Big Dave Morgan played rock solid on defence, handing out some punishing body checks. Both Pete Morgan and Ilija Gajic rounded out the scoring with 3 points each.

Next up is game 2 at Coquitlam Sports Centre Thursday August 21st Game time 7:45 , and the Bellies return to the friendly confines of Queens Park Arena on Saturday Night August 23rd  for a 7:45pm tilt in Game 3. A crowd of over 2000 is expected for Game 3 in New West , as the Bellies will put on extra ticket sellers  to meet the huge demand. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Queens Park Arena Mon- Fri 9:00am to 3:00pm daily.
