 Bellies Win the West 4-0    

New Westminster Sr Salmonbellies advanced to the Mann Cup Championship for the first time since 1995 with a convincing 11-8 win at Coquitlam Sports Centre. The Bellies have shown to all doubters that they can win in the playoffs going 8-0 in the 2008 WLA Playoffs and beating the Adanacs in the post season for the first time since 1994.. The Bellies now 25-1 await the winner of the Peterborough/ Brampton series before traveling East in early Sept.

WLA playoff MVP Ilija  Gajic  had 5 points on (2g,3a) while North Surrey's Regional Economic Advisor Cliff Smith blasted in 3 goals and 1 assist for  4points, while fellow Surrey-ite and MLL Champion Jordan Hall added 4 assists. Jordan Mc Bride and Chris Gill added 2 goals each and Goaltender Matt Roik stopped 23 of 31 shots and shut the Adanacs down for the bulk of the 3rd period. Bellies held a 3-2 lead after 1, tied 7-7 after 2 before pulling away in the 3rd.  Shortly after scoring the 11th goal of the evening, the pro Salmonbellies fans showed their overall approval by covering the Sports Centre floor with numerous Fresh " Salmon", it was raining Fish. The BELLIES NATION was out in full force drowning out the Adanac fans as they supported the 2008 Championship Bellies.
