Salmonbellies have sole possession of first place with a perfect 7-0 record, defeating the last place Maple Ridge Burrards 9-6 in front of 750 boisterous Bellies supporters at Queens Park Arena . Bellies held period leads of 3-0, 6-3 and finished strong defensively for a 9-6 triumph.
Lead by hometown rookie sensation Jordan McBride’s 4 points on (3g,1a) , Jordan Hall with 3 points (1g,2a) and Surrey resident Cliff Smith chimed in with 2 points (1g,1a). The Bellies had a text book start to the game playing suffocating defence and capitalizing on their chances to grab the early 3-0 lead, on 17 shots, while only allowing 8 on Bellies Rookie Tyler Richards. Bellies continued their strong play in the second chasing Burrards starting tender Alex Coutts out by 5:10 of the second Stanza. Bellies continued their excellent Penalty killing on the year, maintaining their league leading 83.33 penalty kill percentage.
Next up for the Bellies is a road game Saturday June 14th in the Hub City against the Nanaimo Timbermen, game time 7:00pm
