 Bellies are 7 - 0
Lead by Sophomore Jordan Hall's (2G 5A) and Veteran Craig Conn's matching (2G 5A) evening, the Salmonbellies put away a pesky Maple Ridge Burrard team 15-12 in front of 750 boisterous Bellie faithful. Maple Ridge lead 5-2 after one , but New Westminster showed it's character as an emerging young team , outscoring the Burrards 9-4 in the second frame to take a 11-9 lead going into the final frame. The Salmonbellies edged the Burrards 4-3 in the final stanza to take the game by a 15-12 margin. They seemed to be energized by a 3rd period scrap by #1 Draft Pick Ilija Gajic and Burrards veteran tough guy Kevin Read. Read seemd to land he 1st blow of the fight but the young Gajic then had his way with the veteran, striking numerous combinations that made everyone in the crowd stand to their feet. Unanimous decision goes to rookie Gajic. Matt Disher coming off a 2 game rest was outstanding in the pipes stopping 35 of 47 shots tossed his way.

Next up is a big test for the Bellies, a home encounter with crosstown rivals Coquitlam Adanacs, gametime June 21st 7:45pm  Queens Park Arena. Beer Gardens opens at 7:00PM. The Bellies are expecting the biggest crowd of the year so far so get there early.
