The Streak is Dead, Long Live the Streak

The 1972 Miami Dolphins get to break the champagne out once again as the ‘Bellies undefeated streak was brought to an end by the Burnaby Lakers Friday evening at Copeland Arena.  The hard fought 13-12 overtime loss brings New West’s record to 8-1.  Rich Morgan scored 4 times, biological brother Pete Morgan scored three goals and had one assist, and Jordan “JJ”  Hall had two goals and 3 helpers, all in vain.  “We didn’t play as well as we hoped,” said Coach Bobby Salt after the game.  He continued, “Burnaby is a hard running, well coached team and we didn’t respond the way we hoped to after a good game last night against Coquitlam.  Bottom line, if you don’t play 60 minutes in this league, you’re going to lose.”  Added Salt with a wry smile, “It was nice to get a call from Don Shula after the game – although I wish he wasn’t laughing so hard on the other end of the line.”
