
Bellies Announce Team Award Winners
2025 TEAM AWARD RECIPIENTS
The New Westminster Salmonbellies have announced the recipients of the club’s 2025 Team Awards, celebrating a season defined by depth, leadership, and collective excellence.
The awards were presented last fall following the conclusion of the 2025 season, a year that will be remembered as one of the most accomplished in the club’s modern era.
President and General Manager Ray Porcellato described the 2025 roster as one of the most talented teams ever assembled at Queen’s Park Arena.
“From the top of the roster to the bottom, every person was a contributor,” said Porcellato. “That made identifying these team awards more challenging than usual. We are, first and foremost, a team, so we want to thank everybody for helping us in our extraordinary 2025 journey. These players and executive stood out for their leadership, something the Salmonbellies deeply value.”
Paul Parnell Rookie of the Year
Ben Soenen
Ben made an immediate impact in his first season through his physical play, athleticism, and unshakeable commitment to the team. His willingness to compete and improve every shift set the tone for what it means to wear the Salmonbellies sweater.

WAYNE GOSS TOP SCORER AWARD
MITCH JONES
Mitch led the team in scoring while also serving as a leader on and off the floor. His competitiveness and preparation exemplified the drive and standards of the entire roster.
Cliff Sepka Inspiration Award
Connor Cook
Connor quietly demonstrated throughout the season why he is a standout defender. Facing some of the league’s best, including elite competition in the Mann Cup, he proved himself to be among the most reliable and composed back gate players in the game.

Doug McRory Best Defence Award
Drew Belgrave
Drew was the backbone of the Salmonbellies’ defence all season. Beyond his on-floor performance, he served as an exceptional captain and was a steady voice of poise and leadership.
Ed Downey Most Valuable Player Award
Will Malcom
Will brought the creativity, perseverance, and resolve the team needed to achieve a remarkable season. His influence was felt in every phase of the game and at key moments throughout the year.

Ab Brown Dedication Award
Brett Mydske
Brett represents the values of the Salmonbellies in every sense. His approach to the game, his professionalism, and the way he carries himself reflect a deep commitment to the standards and culture that define our organization.
Bill Armstrong Executive Award
Nicole Christiansen & Leslie Ducommun
Nicole Christiansen stepped into a demanding role as the club’s financial manager, guiding the organization through a smooth and successful transition. Her leadership and diligence were instrumental behind the scenes.
Leslie Ducommun was stellar as Game Day Organizer, recruiting many new volunteers and playing a key role in organizing a Mann Cup in her very first year in the role.
Jack Fulton Alumni Assistance Award

At 99 years of age, Jack Fulton Sr. remained one of the Salmonbellies’ most devoted supporters, both as a board member and within the alumni community. The award bearing his name reflects a lifetime of unwavering commitment to the club.
7th Man Award
Justin Salt
Justin was there whenever and however his teammates needed him. Gritty, experienced, poised, and willing to take on any role, he exemplified reliability and selflessness throughout the season.
The Salmonbellies congratulate all award recipients and extend sincere thanks to every player, staff member, volunteer, and supporter who contributed to an unforgettable 2025 season.
