Salmonbellies and WLA Statement RE: Game 3
The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA), New Westminster Salmonbellies, and Mann Cup Organizing Committee are aware of and deeply troubled by the altercation that occurred in the stands during the Game 3 of the 2025 Mann Cup last night.
We want to emphasize that the safety of our fans, players, and volunteer staff is our top priority. The WLA, the New Westminster Salmonbellies, and the Mann Cup Organizing Committee do not tolerate violence or aggressive behavior in any form.
The Mann Cup is a highly prestigious lacrosse championship meant to showcase the best of Canadian Lacrosse at the Sr. A level. It is not a venue for disorderly and unruly conduct or unsportsmanlike behavior that disrespects the game, its athletes, or its fans.
We thank the large majority of our fans who continue to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and community at our games. We hope that the actions of these few individuals will not undermine and tarnish what the Mann Cup is supposed to be about.
We have reviewed our security protocols and fan conduct policies with Queen’s Park Arena staff and New Westminster Police in order to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone attending our events.
In addition to an increased New Westminster Police presence, the following actions will be taken immediately and will be in effect for the remainder of the series:
• Mandatory bag checks will be conducted prior to entrance
• All noise makers, including air horns will NOT be permitted (excluding traditional drums)
• Alcohol sales and service will stop at the end of the second intermission
• Individuals identified as being involved in the altercation will be refused entry for all remaining games
