Three Bellies Named to All-Star Rosters

by Paul Horn

The Western Lacrosse Association named their All-Star Teams today and they included three Salmonbellies standouts.

Defender Drew Belgrave and offensive player Haiden Dickson were both named to the 1st All-Star Team, while goaltender Zach Higgins was added to the 2nd All-Star squad.

Belgrave played 15 games this season, scoring 3 goals and 8 assists with 25 penalty minutes.  Belgrave was a force on defence, routinely causing opponents to turnover the ball and consistently transitioning the ball up the floor with his signature speed.

Dickson was the league's top goal scorer, with 40 goals.  That's an impressive total for any player, but Dickson was a rookie, making it even more impressive.  He also added 29 assists and was one of only two Bellies who played every game this season.  (Jimmy McBride was the other.)

Zach Higgins was impressive in his first WLA season.  In 15 games, he maintained a .825 save average.  He faced an average of 53 shots per game, and dealt with more than 60 on three different occasions.  He was, quite simply, the difference maker in many of the Bellies' games this year.

Stay tuned as the WLA releases more end of season awards over the coming week.
